School Climate Builds Successful School Culture!
The Center for School Climate (CSCA) is dedicated to bringing new and innovative training to help educators create a resilient school climate that meets the ever-changing and diverse needs of today’s schools. With connections to specialists and behavioral leaders across the state, CSCA partners with educators possessing unique behavioral and administrative experiences. Our primary goal is to provide participants with the most effective strategies and approaches that enhance their school and classroom climates.
CSCA focuses on providing professional development for educators in four major areas that define school climate and engaged learning:
● Classroom Management
● De-Escalation and Coping Skill Development
● Effective Communication
● New Teacher Development
Each of these areas contributes to teachers’ ability to individually and collectively engage students and maintain a focused and calm learning environment. Climate affects a school culture’s long-term development, but equally important, it controls the atmosphere in every classroom and every minute of instruction on a daily basis. These focal areas and corresponding trainings are designed to help administrators, teachers, and school staff boost their school climate purposefully and consistently as they work to help every student learn. After a quality instruction process (planning, delivery, assessment, etc.), nothing supports learning more than a calm and engaging learning environment. Effective relationships and communication across all stakeholders would follow. CSCE focuses on these crucial areas which boost learning and reinforce the countless hours of academic preparation that educators put in every day.
Many aspects shape students’ academic success today. Strong campus leadership, sound curriculum, comprehensive content planning, and parental support all play a role in student achievement. However, school and classroom climate may be the most important factor. If communication is poor, educators waste valuable teaching time trying to reconnect with stakeholders. If they don’t have specialized de-escalation techniques, they miss precious opportunities to prevent conflict and address tension early in the school year, before situations worsen. Most importantly, if teachers cannot manage their classrooms, they cannot teach, period. The consistent climate in a school and in each classroom dictates the quality of teaching and effectiveness of relationship-building across the campus.
One of CSCA’s unique aspects is that most partners and presenters are current practitioners employed in public or private schools/districts as behavior specialists, campus administrators, and district coordinators. While companies with full-time consultants and presenters benefit immensely from the ability to focus one hundred percent of their time on content development, CSCA prides itself on collaborating with educators and administrators who are still actively employed by schools/districts and are working in the field. These behaviorists and school administrators bring knowledge, expertise, and real-time application of the best behavioral practices in the industry.
Our team of experienced educators is dedicated to helping students excel academically, behaviorally, and socially, and help you attain the school climate that fully supports that goal. We offer a range of services, including coaching, training, and consultation. Our personalized approach ensures that each participant receives the support they need to succeed.
